These are two pensive pieces for four identical recorders, four altos for “summer” and four basses for “winter”.
The Summer movement uses my free-form style of dissonance caused by the extreme close harmony writing. The four voices move more as a block, then as polyphonic voices.
The Winter movement starts out with a chord progression where the voices gradually become more rhythmically independent. A middle section uses the sort of block chords underlying the Summer movement, before the piece ends again with shifted block chords the way it starts.
